Learning to lead is one of the most important things you can do for your career. The MPI Leadership Development initiative has numerous way to both develop and showcase your leadership skills. These including becoming a mentor or mentee; engaging and educating our student members, showcasing your skills as a progressive leader, and more. In addition, you can demonstrate strong leadership skills by volunteering on a committee and serving on the MPI MN board. Read below to find out more about each of our Leadership Development programs and get motivated and engaged in your own leadership development!

Leader of the Month Board members nominate active committee members they wish to honor. The entire board of directors then votes to select the Leader of the Month, who will receive a prize from the current sponsor of the award. Leader of the Month recipients will be announced at the regular September, October, November, January, March, April, and August MPI MN meetings. See a list of past recipients »
Student Leadership Mission: to engage, education, mentor, and recognize current and potential student members. Creating connections between students and those in our MPI MN chapter, this committee makes transitioning from college to the meetings industry easier for all motivated students. Mentoring Mission: To connect mentors and mentees and peer groups for professional growth opportunities. This committee has two programs for MPI MN members:

Mentoring: Power of 2 is a one-on-one mentoring program that pairs mentors and mentees based upon their goals. This award-winning program is available to all current members of MPI MN and is a three-month commitment. Mentoring is available to members at any stage in their career who are seeking to develop new skills or make progress toward professional goals.

Mentoring: Power of Peers is a new program delivering five programs per year from September through June to the MPI MN membership-at-large. With a subject expert attending, the focus of each program is to have casual conversations about current industry topics.
