The Vice President and Director are responsible for planning and implementing ten monthly programs, providing innovative and quality education topics and opportunities for professional and personal growth for MPI Minnesota Chapter members.
Time commitment: 5-10 hours per month
CMP Boot Camp
This position is responsible for conducting four-yearly CMP boot camps and is a liaison between the MPI Minnesota Chapter and the Convention Industry Council (CIC). The CMP Boot Camp Chair works with the sponsorship chair to find facility locations; updates information and the website as needed with the Association Management Company; recruits chapter CMPs for additional requested assistance in topic presentation; preps course materials and supplies; updates the chapter with information about passing examinees for recognition; submits CMP-level questions and answers each month for the chapter newsletter; and produces the annual CMP/CMM recognition breakfast.
The responsibilities of the Event Postings Chair are drafting web content for Monthly Meeting events and any other events that fall under the Education Committee, including contacting the Speaker Logistics Chair for pertinent information on the speaker/content. The Event Postings Chair supplies information to various Committees and/or the Association Management Company for approval and to have content posted. The Event Postings Chair is also responsible for submitting course content to the Convention Industry Council (CIC) for education credit. This position is a one-year commitment.
The responsibilities of the Grant Writing Chair are to monitor MPI Global for any upcoming grant offerings (including deadlines), write grants and submit submissions after reviewing them with the VP of Education. This position is a one-year commitment.
The responsibilities of the Hybrid Chair(s) are to oversee and plan content for integration into Monthly Meetings, draft questions and secure interviewees, liaise between applicable parties, emcee the live pre-show and share information with the Education team for reporting at monthly board meetings.
This group is responsible for the planning and implementation of a one-day event consisting of a full day of education as well as a supplier marketplace for members in the MPI Minnesota Chapter. This team plans quality educational opportunities for the diverse MPI Minnesota Chapter membership. They are responsible for content development and sourcing the keynote speakers, implementation of the Supplier Marketplace (trade show), obtaining sponsors, marketing the event and coordinating event logistics.
The responsibilities of the Year-End Celebration (formerly known as the May Award Gala) Chair(s) are to create the event (while working with the outgoing President) that celebrates the culmination of the MPI Minnesota Chapter’s past year accomplishments and manage event logistics including production company management, décor, entertainment, food and beverage decisions and script organization.
Meeting Card Recruiter
The responsibilities of the Meeting Card Recruiter Chair are to develop a plan with the VP and Director of Education to increase participation of meeting card purchases to reach the set goal for the year, develop milestones for TSR and evaluate and execute the plan as needed.
Meeting Card Retention/Engagement
The responsibilities of the Meeting Card Retention/Engagement Chair are to evaluate the effectiveness of meeting cards along with participant satisfaction, develop a plan with the VP and Director of Education to maintain and increase retention of meeting card holders, develop milestones for TSR, and evaluate and execute the plan as needed.
This group works on the Monthly Meetings (outside of the Holiday Party, Awards Gala and iConnect) and coordinates meeting logistics with the venue, which can include food and beverage, décor enhancements, AV, special seating arrangements, keynote speaker needs, timeline communications and guarantees. The chair of this group will be a mentor to those individuals handling the Monthly Meeting. Typically, each month has a different volunteer running logistics.
The responsibilities of the Speaker Logistics Chair/group are to assist in future Monthly Meeting planning, confirm speakers if not already selected, coordinate with the Venue Logistics Chair on needs and execution, communicate with speakers as needed prior to the event, coordinate speaker travel and accommodations and submit speaker expenses for payment.
