Membership Care and Retention

The Membership Care and Retention subcommittee provides connections, communication and events to current members, especially those considering renewal. This group hosts two Member Orientation events for new, renewing and refreshing current members. Attendees learn why and how to be involved in the chapter and to get more value from their investment. Retention also offers two mingles to promote networking opportunities to get to know the MPI Minnesota Chapter members. Engaging with members online, by phone and in person, this subcommittee answers questions, provides directions to online resources and suggests volunteer opportunities to suit interests. Membership Care is also in charge of the great EMPI Awards for the May Gala.

The Recruitment subcommittee is responsible for growing the membership of the MPI Minnesota Chapter to include planner, supplier, student and affiliate members. Committee members research, plan and participate in a minimum of two corporate office visits/tradeshows per year to grow chapter membership. Recruitment is also responsible for the referral campaign, recruitment social media, interacting with prospective members and providing membership materials and information as needed to gain new members.

This group sets criteria and administers the process for the chapter’s annual Excellence in MPI (EMPIs), presented in May at the annual Gala. The Recognition subcommittee conducts ongoing recognition of sponsor and membership achievements, including monthly “Up Close” interviews featured in the MPI Minnesota Chapter newsletter.

Member Engagement

New Member Ambassador

The New Member Ambassador Committee is in place to assist the onboarding of new members to the MPI Minnesota Chapter. The goal is to have each new member be contacted right away by a current chapter member and make them feel comfortable at events and get them engaged by volunteering on a committee that suits their interests.

Student Membership

The Student Membership subcommittee recruits and engages students, increases participation and promotes joining MPI. Student Membership provides mentorship, education and professional opportunities for students as they transition into the meetings industry and encourages connections and partnerships between industry professionals and students. Members seek opportunities to develop MPI clubs at colleges and universities.
