Introduced in 2016, the Mentor Café met before select MPI Monthly Meetings to talk about mentorship and how it plays a role in leadership development within MPI as well as professional and personal growth. Under the leadership of the new MPI MN Mentor Committee members Ann Margaret Young and Heidi Cerdas Monge, the Mentor Café has had a makeover in Year 2.

Here is what attendees can expect this year from this exciting and motivating mentor program event:

  • Using the Monthly Meeting theme as a guide for café content to elevate that month’s specific topic, and drive attendees to learn more about a wide variety of topics
  • Incorporating the Monthly Meeting Speaker into the Mentor Café to bring the café content full-circle with the meeting content
  • Coordinating a Panel of Experts, pulling from various roles and experience, that will generate new ideas and interactive conversations

All MPI MN members are welcome to join for the Mentor Café, and not just those currently enrolled in the Mentor Program. To join the next Mentor Café, members are asked to register for the event via the MPI MN website. Mentor Cafés are free to attend and attendees will leave energized before the Monthly Meeting.

New this year is the MPI MN Mentor Program Luncheon hosted by Fogo de Chao Minneapolis. In November, current mentors, mentees, and mentor committee members will come together for lunch and networking. This will be a great opportunity for those enrolled in the Mentor Program to get to know one another over a delicious Brazilian meal.

The revamped Mentor Café and launch of the Mentor Program Luncheon are just two initiatives to bolster the MPI Mentor Program in 2017. For more information about becoming a mentor or mentee, please visit the website or reach out to Susan Bormann at Susan.Bormann@idq.com or Kari Tomlinson at Kari.Tomlinson@Hilton.com. Ultimately, mentoring is not a one-way process but a two-way street. It has the potential to change not just one life, but TWO.
